Evaluation for Benefits

Sheltering Oaks Counseling proudly provides psychological evaluations for V.A. disability benefits. We are happy to assist veterans who are seeking support and understanding regarding their difficulties. You may be feeling overwhelmed by past experiences, sadness, hopelessness, anger, lack of sleep, or simply having issues connecting with others and seeking a way to overcome such hardships.

What should you expect? A psychological evaluation has two important pieces. First, you will meet with our licensed psychologist to discuss what you view as problematic or that is stopping you from achieving the quality of life you desire. Second, you will be completing a computerized assessment that helps provide additional insight into your current difficulties.

What to bring?

  • DD-214 Form,
  • Driver’s License or Identification Card,
  • A list of any medications you are currently taking (if applicable), and
  • Any previous mental health rating decisions (if you have previously been rated by the VA).
