Krystal Ellig, Intern

Counseling Intern
I am a clinical mental health counseling student with Liberty University. After completing my undergraduate degree in English at the University of Central Florida I became a high school teacher. During this time I became aware of the need for mental health education for young adults.
I read the words and thoughts of my students and felt called to equip myself to help them understand their thoughts and feelings and how they affect their mental wellbeing. My personal journey through motherhood has also motivated me to study about postpartum health and birth trauma.
As a professional counselor I will always seek the opportunity to keep learning. Nature and outdoor adventures have awarded me with a depth of personal healing and growth. I hope to share the connection between being outdoors and increased mental wellbeing with my future patients.
Enneagram [ 4 ]
As an enneagram 4 I have the ability to understand a large spectrum of feelings and am not afraid to follow them to any depth or peak. As a four I also deeply value solitude, aesthetic beauty, art, and there is no better creation of art than nature! I have developed a deep passion for hiking because of this.
As a Florida native, I have completed one Colorado mountain summit and have plans to complete more. My “superpower” as an enneagram 4 allows me to stand in solidarity with people facing challenges, to see beauty in painful circumstances, and to connect with those around me on a deep level. I feel blessed to face life alongside my clients and help them maneuver through their thoughts and feelings in order to live life to the fullest.
